Welcome to the Agilent Service Support Software with the Agilent ESG AP/DP 
Test package!

PLEASE READ THESE NOTES BEFORE RUNNING THE APPLICATION!

These notes are designed to help you understand characteristics
of this application and to inform you of any last minute
changes.

OVERVIEW

This is the Revision 7.00 of test software for the Agilent ESG AP/DP series
RF Signal Generator series (ESG A and D family). This software includes a Test Executive 
(User Interface) and a package of Adjustments/Performance Tests that 
apply specifically to the Agilent ESG AP/DP series. This software should be used
in conjunction with the Agilent ESG E44xxB Calibration Guide.

GENERAL

Please be sure to install and configure the SICL I/O libraries 
that came with your GP-IB card before running the application.
Only Agilent Technologies (Hewlett-Packard) GP-IB interface cards are supported at
this time.

The first time the application is run, the system administrator
needs to enter information about the test equipment available
at your site for this application.  This is done through the
File, Test Equipment menu items.  If this is not done, 
the software will not allow testing.  NOTE: If you are using
any power sensors, each must have a default GPIB address of -1.

If you get an error while running the application, first check 
for obvious problems such as equipment not connected, cables not
attached, equipment not turned on, etc.  Note any information
the error message gives you which may be useful to HP customer
support should you need their help.  Always try to duplicate the
error condition, and as a last resort, try rebooting your PC 
if the application hangs up.

PERFORMANCE TESTS


-- Power Level Accuracy--:

Power level measurements made at low power levels are very 
susceptable to errors caused by RF leakage into the measurement 
system. It is extremely important that the Device Under Test as 
well as all test equipment be isolated from stray RF signals as 
much as possible during these measurements.

ADJUSTMENTS

-- I/Q Impairment--:
This adjustment requires the RF Output is properly terminated. Connect
either a 10 dB attenuator or power sensor to the DUT RF Output for this
adjustment.

POWER METER SUBSTITUTION
The 438 power meter used in this software only uses the A Input.
Therefore, a 437B can be substituted without the need to change 
any software drivers.

		Fixed Y2K bug that was printing wrong date and time
		on the log file.

	ESG_AP/DP Test Package: Revision 6.00
		Flash screens and nomenclature changed to reflect transition to
		AgilentTechnologies.

		Modifed adjustments and performance tests to accomodate a revision to option
		H99. The software should work with both old and new revisions of the option. 
		The software switches based on Output Bd. part number and an internal
		calibration array.

		Fixed some problems with the Power Level Accuracy Adjustment.

		Modified the Motherboard Utility software so it can be used to update internal
		calibration arrays when updating or changing hardware options. For option
		H99, the software checks the installed Output Bd. part number before
		downloading internal calibration arrays.

	ESG_AP/DP Test Package: Revision 6.20
		Fixed some problems with properly testing Option H99.

		Fixed problem with Power Level Accuracy Adjustment and 2 GHz instruments not
		working properly at 2 GHz.

		Avoid possible 3 GHz spur in spectrum analyzer when testing at 3 GHz.

		Modified Power Level Accuracy performance test to be faster and more accurate.

		Reduced number of datapoints measured in many performance tests. Purpose was
		to improve test time without degrading test integrity.

		Fixed CDMA(UN5) performance test to run on DP models.

	ESG_AP/DP Test Package: Revision 6.30
		Reduced number of datapoints in Power Level Accuracy Performance Test

	ESG_AP/DP Test Package: Revision 7.00
		Fixed Analog Prelevel Adjustment to minimize chance of getting a DAC Overflow.

		Fixed LNF Gain Adjust so it works even if the power meter overflows.

		Fixed Gain Adjust so it works even if the power meter overflows.

		Changed default calibration arrays in ALC Adjustment to improve success of 
		adjustment.

		Modified Test Executive and many tests to allow using E4436B or E4437B as 
		Local Oscillator in place of 8663A. This will be enabled with a later release.

		In Harmonics and Nonharmonics performance test, no longer turn off LNF mode.
