Frank...long time user here

My partner and I both have an installation of 3.1.9 over Vista.  Recently, we have both been getting Winamp skips and crashes.  Vista solution advise to download the newest version of Winamp.  We are both using 5.5 which came with Roxbox.

Do we download the newer version? How do we tie this to the Roxbox application if we do?

OK, so far with no luck I have tried the following. I ran as admin, I set the drift, I updated winamp, I updated the muchfx plug in and installed, I have tried manual fade in rox box as well as auto.

I am running Rox box 3.1.19
Win amp 5.5

I dont get the error as much when using player 1 and strickly karaoke, as i do when strickly doing mp3's, but it does happen in both.

I will update if I come across anything that seems to work.

Thanks for the reply.

Just another tidbit...it doesn't start to happen till after 2 minutes into the songs...it varies between the 2:30 & 3:00 MARK...and what it actually does is skips ahead maybe a second or half second...and the longer the song, the frequency increases towards the end...

Mine does not do that. Mine is a pace maker error that says it cant be found, and to either close winamp or have it ck for fixes. It does not do it every time, and it happens more when starting a new song in the same player when another song is playing. When winamp comes back up, if its in player one, you sometines lose the ability to change key and pitch too.

I have a duplicate HP computer that I have it installed on and that one runs fine. Not sure what the heck I did as I only use it for the shows.

check the post about words not in time with music for the skip ahead problem.

the winamp not found when playing a second song is a known bug. you have to stop the song first.

Hi Frank,

Although I have never had a problem with either methods of fading from one player to another, I have turned them off and tried stopping the first song then starting another. I still have the same problem at times, mostly when I swith songs from within the same player.

I will keep trying things as I cant say enough about the ease of use of Rox Box. I have tried others and I always come back to this one. Steady user for 2+ years.

Any news on V4?

LOL, I got faith in ya! As for the current issue. I have uninstalled Winamp, removed all folders and files remaining, deleted rox box as well as all folders and files using advanced search methods (prior to saved my singers historyfile), Ran a registry cleaner prog called crap cleaner, rebooted and double cked all are gone, reinstalled rox box, made sure it ran as admin, replaced singers history file, adjusted drift again to recommended setting.. and all is good. Ran it at my last 2 shows and smooth as butter baby!

Will ck back for V4 release.. Thanks again Frank!

Frank, I understand the drift issue.  This issue is where the song is about 2 and 1/2 minutes in and the whole song 'jumps' a second or fraction of a second ahead.  Also, several Winamp crashes during the first seconds of play.  Instant recovery but it doesn't pick up on the pacemaker again till I restart Roxbox.  I really can't wait for Roxbox ver. 4.
